What is the GACE program?

 

The Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC) initiated the development of the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators® (GACE™), a new assessment program for individuals seeking Georgia educator certification. The assessments is fully aligned with national standards, the Georgia Performance Standards for PreKindergarten through Grade 12, and the Georgia educator preparation rules.  Please refer to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC) Web site at www.gapsc.com for more information.

What is Academic Resource Services?

 

Started in 2001 Academic Resource Services provides well-developed teacher preparation workshops in the areas of math, reading, and writing and workbooks and videos featuring test content based material for the GACEtm test series.  Classes are not simply test taking strategy sessions but intensive preparation series presented by professionals who focus on the key concepts of the GACE.

What are the tests and the registration fees?

 

Following is a list of GACE tests and their associated fees.*

    ($25 fee per test—assessment composed of three tests)

How do I prepare for the test?

How many times may I retake a test?

 

There is no limit to the number of times you may take each GACE test. Tests may be taken on the same or separate test administration dates.

How do I register for a test?

 

Beginning in September 2006, you may register for the GACE at gace.nesinc.com. The 2006–2007 GACE Registration Bulletin, which contains complete registration and testing information, will also be available at gace.nesinc.com..

May I request alternative testing arrangements for my disability?

 

Yes. Instructions for registering for alternative testing arrangements will be provided in the 2006–2007 GACE Registration Bulletin at gace.nesinc.com..

When will my test scores be available?

 

See "Test Dates" for a list of the score report dates for the 2006–2007 test administration year. Unofficial score reports will be available on the Internet by 5:00 p.m. eastern time on the score report date for the test administration. Official examinee scores will be mailed on the score report date. Please note that score reports for the November 2006 test administration will not be available until after passing standards are set.

How will I receive my scores?

 

Your official score report will be mailed to you by U.S. mail on the score report date published in “Test Dates.” You may also choose to access your unofficial scores on the Internet. If you register on the Internet, you may also request to have your unofficial scores sent to you by e-mail.

What is the passing requirement?

 

GACE passing requirements will be available after the passing standard for each GACE test is established by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission based on input from committees of educators.
